The gradual and very gratifying spread of the species around Europe continues, then :) although thus far only Leipzig, Paris and Moscow have successfully bred them. Be good if other collections followed suit......

I've spent this morning in Moscow Zoo and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Really enjoyed the nocturnal house with Springhaas, Galago, Quoll and Kinkajous and even Feather Tailed Glyders zooming about. Loads of quality invert exhibits. New reptile house featured some nice crocodilian species including Siamese Crocodile, Black Caiman, False Gharial, African Dwarf Croc and Chinese and Mississippi Alligators. Always nice to see Sable Antelope! And Takin & Musk Ox. Brilliant!!

Had a really good look around but did not find any Saiga Antelope - do they not keep this species any more?

According to EARAZA report (http://earaza.ru/wp-content/uploads/inf-35-rus-2.pdf), there are no saigas in EARAZA Russian zoos anymore. It was 2012 when Moscow zoo reported on keeping saigas last time.

Thanks for the info - I'd really like to see Saiga and should have done a bit more research before going to avoid the dissappointment! Never mind - still a fantastic varied collection. Glad I went.
