Article about the Orangutan trade in Russia : Shocking trade in baby orangutans being bred for Russian super-rich | Daily Mail Online
The facility highlighted in report is not 'Exotic zoo' but 'Exotic park'. http://xn--80andgcbykkp1j.xn--p1ai/about/ They also had a site with animals offered for sale but it's currently shut down. Of primates, they breed only lemurs, marmosets, capuchins, guenons & macaques. Lorises, orangs & gibbons are imported. Btw gibbons can be seen at many travelling exotic animal exhibits which are wildly popular in Russia. Krasnodar Safari park got pair of obviously imported baby orangs in 2012. There are 3 adult orangutans in Russian circus (trained by Aziz Askaryan, Armenian - he also works with chimps). Baby orangs live at indoor exotarium of RIO Mall, Moscow.
A female orangutan baby, named Dana, is now demonstrated at one of Russian travelling exhibits, 'Monkey parade', which currently resides in Saratov. ?????????? ??????? ??????????? ?????????? ????
Well, still I must say again the 'offensive' TRUTH, that Armenia is a CITES loophole. https://www.occrp.org/en/investigations/2596-endangered-animals-enter-armeniaand-then-go-where Armenians are very much involved in animal trade of Russia & post-Soviet countries, as well as in circus & menagerie business. One of them, Eduard Khachatryan, is an owner of 'Monkey planet' (a former part of 'Exotic park' facility, forcefully divided for his own business). Here, at least 2 orangs live. RIO malls in St.Petersburg and Moscow, which have indoor zoos with 2 baby orangs in each, are built by Armenian company 'Tashir'. The oficials of those zoos say that 'animals are on loan from a breeding facility near Moscow', meaning Exotic Park/Monkey planet. P.S. About 'Exotic zoo': there is really a facility with such name near Moscow, in Desna village (so there's a confusion in my 1st post) and Exotic Park is situated at 47th kilometer of MKAD highway. Both facilities keep orangs, gibbons, chimps and lorises (as well as other imported primates) and some species breed there, though not apes. 'Exotic zoo' is closed to public visits and photography unless you're a buyer. Doesn't have a site, uses ads for selling animals. Exotic park had several sites, changing repeatedly. Now-split 'Monkey planet' has a separate site.
