Hippo enclosures
Old 21-11-2008

This image show the two enclosures. The clsoest is the original enclosure which is predominantly pond. The second enclosure at the back has some of the pond extending into it, but is mainly grass. In the past, this paddock has been used for oryx and onagers. As it is well known that wild hippos graze every night, I\'m surprised more zoos haven\'t been doing this before now.

Between the Aussie open range zoos Dubbo and Werribee there are a pair of truly enormous hippo exhibits.
