Golden Spiny Mouse (Acomys russatus) at Zoologischer Garten Magdeburg - 5 A

The entrance building to the zoo contained, among other things, a tank containing a few of this highly attractive and rather unusual rodent - few collections outside the Middle East hold this species. I am particularly pleased with how well the titular spines of this animal have turned out in the photograph, as spiny mice usually move rather too rapidly for this to be possible!
