These will most likely be the last of his offspring.

I'm hoping for more, not to see a bunch of calves walking around. But for some elephants it's time to have a baby. Chit Mi Mi and Jula never had a baby, and for them it's good to have one now. And it doesn't matter if the calf survives or not, altough we're al hoping for the first.

Sorry Mark i haven't able to find anything, you are probably the one who would know his approxamate size. you can try to estimate his height, take example you, your height to Rex. Can you give me a photo with Rex next to another elephant?

You have got a great idea Mark i have been hoping for a top ten list for a while. Though i find it hard to find many of the bulls exact measurments here are some bulls that are quite big:

Radza (obviously) of emmen is 325cm and 7.2 tons.
Packy of Portland zoo is 6320kgs and around 315cm
Tusko also of Portland is around 6 tons and 10 feet?
And Bindu of cologne is 5500kgs and 315cm.

Naing Thein of Prague is 5700kgs, he has a slim stomach so he must be at least 10 feet i think.
Bong su of Melbourne is the southern hemisphere largest ( in captiviy) though is over 3 meters and just over 5 tons, there are many much bigger.

Alexander of Amersfoort is over 5500kgs last weighed but height i am unsure of.
Chieng Mai of Copenhagen must be quite large to at least some extent because of his age.
According to Kerala royal elephants, the prestigious marks are 10 feet and 5000kgs
Do you have any others? I'll keep researching.
cheers

I would not like to try to estimate the size of Rex, I could be way of the mark there, maybe one of our North American members may know?, The only pics I have of him are in the gallery and as he was alone in his own yard and can not be compared to others there.

The largest Asian bull (wild bull) is said to be the giant "Raja Gai" of Nepal who is claimed to stand at 11.5 inches at the shoulder with foot prints 22.5 inches across, he is said to be the largest (Asian) bull ever known, he's age was thought to be about 70 plus

The first two spots on the list should be Radza and Packy. ( Its a start) spot 3 and 4 i will be close competition, for the average size, we must take into account all dimensions. Mainly height and weight though.

Maybe one of the mods can make a different topic with the last entries about the "biggest bulls"?

From what I know, Radza is the heaviest but not the tallest bull elephant in Europe. The keepers in Emmen say he`s 3.15 m tall and 7.200 kg.
Alex (about 3,20-3,30 m, 5.5-6 tons) and Luka in Benidorm (about 3.20 m, about 5.5 tons) are both taller then Radza, but weight less. Other fully mature bulls like Mekong/Leipzig, Ankhor/Berlin and Hussein/Hamburg are all impressive tuskers but they are all less then 3 m high and I estimate their weight at about 5 tons.

One of the tallest Asian elephant bulls in Europe is "Boy" of Kiew with more or less 3,25 m.

Thank you guys, both,
Perhaps we could make a point system? e.g add weight ( in kilos) and centimeters to get average size.

We probably need help with the size of american bulls, Perhaps from some of our american members?

www.elefanten.de could be wrong it says that Bindu is europes second largest bull, but what from Yassa says (i'm not doubting you) Luka and Alexander are larger. Would anyone here know the height of Naing Thein?
