Sumatran Tigers in Europe
Old 31-05-2010

Following the success of 'Asiatic Lions in Europe', I've decided to get started on another project!

Please do post about the tigers from your 'local zoo'. I'm looking for names, genders, zoo of residence, zoo of birth, year of birth, father, mother.

I've already started researching!

Possible Solutions to create more breeding pairs

Padang leaves South Lakes and goes back to Dudley. Chandra moves down from Edinburgh to join him and create a new pair for Dudley. Surya at Paignton moves to Edinburgh and is paired with Tibor. Either Aryo or Bintang at Paignton goes to South Lakes as a new mate for Aleesha, Everyone is happy!

I can confirm that the two at welsh mountain zoo are half Amur and half Sumatran. Thats why the are in the same enclosure even though they are siblings.

Dua (1280) is the female at Thrigby Hall, transferred from Dublin Oct 2005, I think.

Tiga (1278) died July 2005.

Hi Haz cat,

Its a actual copy....all zoos that hold stud book tigers are sent a copy each year.
I work for a zoo that holds stud book Amur tigers, therefore, i have access to it when ever i want.
It would be diffecult to post all the book here....the Amurs alone have well over 5000 registered.

best wishes

Hi Amur
I too have an interest in the genaology of the sumatran tigers, it started when I started doing research into the Aussie/NZ branches. I would really appreciate any information that you are able to post, when you have the time off course.

Hi Jay,

Would you like me to include the Sumatrans in Aussie zoos too?

best wishes

I'm particularly interested in the geneaology of some of the imported animals (Binjai, Soraya and the male at Auckland). I'm up to date with the animals that were in this region.
Thanks
Jay
