Allso mine favorite Lory-species ! In the 1980-ties Lory and Lorikeet-keeping was taking big dimentions in the Netherlands ( and the rest of Europe ) but this species was among the rarer ones. In a privat collection I was able to take care for one of the few pairs kept in the Netherlands.
To see these birds displaying is a wunderfull sight and another reason is that the species is named after a zoologist of Dutch orgin ( Maarten Dirk van Renese van Duivenbode - which has partly the same first name as I do ).

Thank you for the comments. I have been reading about Mr Duivenbode in Alfred Russel Wallace's account of his travels and collecting trips in what is now Indonesia. Wallace says that Duivenbode was very rich and known as the king of Ternate, where he helped Wallace to find accommodation. Wallace paid him the Englishman's greatest compliment, by writing that he spoke English perfectly ;)
