Tomorrow Chester Zoo's team of Rhino Maniacs set off on their trek up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. For those not already aware, their aim is to raise £10K towards the conservation of the critically-endangered eastern black rhino, both in Africa and at Chester Zoo. The team of nine has come together from many departments within the zoo and consists of people who I'm sure regular visitors will know; fund-raiser Michelle (team leader) coordinator Dave, lead presenter Sarah, Kim from the Directors' office, Meg from PR and media and zoo nutritionist Andrea. It's a great cause and I'm sure the team would appreciate everyone's support. It's possible to donate directly via: Virgin Money Giving | Fundraising | Rhino Maniacs The Rhino Maniacs' official site and blog, which will be updated throughout the trip (rhino keeper Helen is going to be acting as their IT intermediary) can be found at: Rhino Maniacs! : Home And there's the ubiquitous Facebook page at: Rhino Maniacs | Facebook
Congratulations to the Rhino Maniacs! Update on the Rhino Maniacs' progress. All of them managed to make it as high as Kibo at 4,700m, a huge effort by everyone concerned. Meg, Sarah, Dave and Nick then went on to Gilmans Point at the summit, a whopping 5,680m! They're now on their way back down, mission accomplished! Don't forget to donate!
