Windows on the Wild Viewing at Twycross, 28/11/10

A wader/sea bird aviary only visible from the toilets. Behind the sinks is a tank for leafcutter ants. Weird and not really to my liking - who's going to hang around a toilet? No-one. So why build an aviary that big that can only be seen from there?* *I understand it can also be seen from the conference rooms, which is no use at all to your ordinary visitor.

Just weird, what were they thinking, any truth to the rumors that the yellow throated martens are going in next to the hand dryers?

you forgot to add "with a camera" after the word "toilet" ;)

You make a good point! :D

I should stress that given the extremely cold weather today the zoo was very quiet and I was alone when this photo was taken. ;)

The photo is intended to highlight the inherent absurdity of the design, and as such is intentionally ironic. Or something like that..!

Does anyone know if the 'Ladies' also have a view of the aviary ?

      Can't actually SEE any 'wild'....

I understand that they do - would seem a bit odd to leave the ladies out!

Dare I ask where they get the water from for the pool?

I agree that the avairy only visable from the bogs is a bit pants but I like the ants .

The ants is quite a nice but only being able to see the aviary from the toilets is rather mystifying especially when you think how much they spent on this entrance complex (and I'm not too keen on the snow leopard enclosure.) i'd much prefer it to go on new/improved ape houses but you can't really expect Twycross to do the logical(even if I do like the zoo!)
