Help needed to Id

this parrot was in the first of the Asian bird aviaries, I think it looks like an amazon or maybe an African parrot of some kind..... but it was intent on hiding its face and the signage is very poor on most of the aviaries so........ I'm stumped.

this parrot was in the first of the Asian bird aviaries, I think it looks like a (very small) amazon or maybe an African parrot of some kind..... but it was intent on hiding its face and the signage is very poor on most of the aviaries so........ I\'m stumped. It was the size of a large conure or a King parrot with short tail

I'm quite sure it's not an Asian species and am quite sure it's an African one, the Red-fronted or Jardine's parrot ( Poicephalus gulielmi ) a close relative of the better known Senegal Parrot and the Cape parrot.

I saw this bird over the weekend, and also wondered what it was. Jardine's Parrot is definitely possible as Melbourne does have a pair.

Here's a photo from my visit:

I'm nearly 100% sure it is a Jardine's but I have never seen one with a red rump before....

Jardine's. There aren't any similar species to confuse with.
