      Nice shot Tim! Very envious....
    • TeaLovingDave
      Pretty damn envious myself......

I had never even heard of this species until about a moth ago, which is kind of embarrassing. I've always considered myself well versed in the various primates.

      Nice shot otherwise!

Now I have to go to Japan or Philadelphia if I want to see one.

      Hmm...

      Or Singapore.

Or Cuc Phuong primate centre where you can see all three types, red shanked, grey shanked and black shanked.
Better yet Son Tra nature reserve in central Vietnam and see them in the wild.

Thanks for the kind comments about the photo.

I remember the days when Cologne had a great collection of unusual primates including a group of douc langur, a group of proboscis monkeys, two species of Chiropotes saki monkey, three taxa of uakari.....

Now that would be a collection worth traveling for!

Just when I had narrowed down my vacation options! This also sounds appealing. I'm going to have to randomly draw a location from a hat at this point in time...

It's well deserved! The image is well posed; there's an abundance of detail, and it's quite clear. When I try for detail shots, they just end up looking... muddy.
