It could just be because it is late, but I have been trying to understand this exhibit for a while now. In this photo is looks as though the poor thing is kept within this wooden box with no outdoor access. While in another photo of the wooden box, there is a large opening in the box, but the fence surrounding it is very low; leading me to believe that the opening is covered by more fence that I just can't see.

I'm sure I'm being completely dense, but I just don't want to believe this wooden box is it...

The Fanaloka has living space that represents a rectangle. I would estimate that the on-show enclosure is perhaps 6 feet long and maybe 3 feet deep. From the side view of the box it is possible to see that there is a separate area that the animal can be shifted to but regardless this exhibit is not very large at all.

Why is labelled as a Fanaloka on one sign and a Falanouc on the other, complete with respective scientific names? I can well imagine someone unfamiliar getting muddled up with the not-dissimilar names, but if they've realised well enough to get another sign made you'd think they'd take down the incorrect one.

Must be hard to photograph the animals!
