      the face reminds me of Malpolon monspessulanus, but i'm not sure if it is. Very few distinctive markings or features on this one!

      This sure is a Malpolon, though which of the 2 I wouldn't know.

      The ZSL Annual report for 1983 lists Malpolon monspessulanus as being in the collection.

      The problem is that they were only split recently....

      Based on the uniform colouration without the black saddle I would say it is a male M. insignitus after consulting some literature.
