On February 17th, the aquarium released its 2023 Annual Report of which the more important pieces of information include:

    - The Sam and Aline W. Skaggs Science Learning Center is on track to finish construction and open in December 2024/2025. New species for the aquarium will include Matschie's tree kangaroo, Prevost's squirrel, and giant salamander (species not specified), as well as new exhibits for their binturong, Asian small-clawed otters, clouded leopard, and Komodo dragon.
    - A new "Nature Raptor Center" was completed in October which will be home to a "diverse collection of native raptors" to boost their Animal Ambassador programs. They acquired a (0.1) peregrine falcon and a (0.0.1) great-horned owl shortly after completion.
    - Acquisitions previously not mentioned in 2023 include 2 new tanager species (saffron-crowned tanager and blue-necked tanager) which were added to the free-flight bird flock.
    - Transfers previously not mentioned in 2023 include a (0.0.1) red-tailed boa Yuki and a (0.0.1) blood python Credence to the El Paso Zoo in Texas in March, a (0.1) lesser hedgehog tenrec to the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington D.C., and a (1.0) sandbar shark Chandler to the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium in Missouri.
    - Notable exhibit upgrades/renovations in 2023 include adding a new rock structure and additional plants to the clouded leopard exhibit, closing the "Journey to South America" gallery for 3 days for deep cleaning, and the addition of dimmable lights (which replaced the original lighting), the replacement of the silicon sand to glass medium inside the 330,000 shark exhibit, as well as installing additional rockwork inside said exhibit for incoming smaller fish species in 2024.
