Recently a new male African wild dog (Lycaon pictus) arrived to accompany the two present females, the previous male was euthanised due to severe health issues in March.

ZooParc Overloon's last two sika deer, a male and a female, have died. Both animals had reached an advanced age and started suffering from age-related ailments. Therefore, both animals have been euthanised. With this, the sika deer are out of the collection.

The zoo has announced that they will be moving the crab-eating raccoons near the entrance to create space in the middle of the park.

Today ZooParc Overloon posted a clip hinting that the new species coming to the zoo will likely be the clouded leopard.

ZooParc Overloon officially announced today that they will be getting clouded leopards this summer. Construction of the new enclosure will start at the end of March.

The enclosure will be an extension of the Jangalee area, and the ultimate goal is to transform the old Amazone area into the Asian Jangalee area in the coming years. The arrival of the clouded leopards is a first step in this.

Construction work is expected to be completed before the summer holidays. Not much later, two female clouded leopards will arrive at Overloon.

Even though I really dislike the name 'Jangalee' I'm really happy with the (future) developments of this modest but charming zoo.

Of course, a zoo can never go wrong by adding clouded leopards to its collection!

I should really do a revisit this year!

According to signage at the zoo, ZooParc Overloon will open a new expedition area called Ngyuwe in 2025. The theme of this new area will be Tropical Africa. Where the new area is to be realised is not yet known. However, it does look like the pygmy hippos will be featured in this area.

The second animal park now to start with what once was regarded as a too difficult to maintain and breed species. The European clouded leopard population is a bit stagnant these days and new holders and willing to invest in breeding are most welcome. Also looking forward to this Ngyuwe area in 2025 ... !!! The park has really been on a long evolution to a better future.

Mandidy, one of the two black-and-white ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata variegata) died at the age of 19. He died due to health problems related to his advanced age. His 18-year-old brother Nosy now remains alone in the company of the ring-tailed lemurs. The zoo is talking to the management programme about whether new ruffed lemurs can be added soon.

A white-faced saki (Pithecia pithecia) was born on April 7. This is the second young for this pair.
