2 Dalmatian Pelican chicks were born to parents Seven and Anastasia on February 15th and 17th. The gender of both chicks is not mentioned. On April 25th, the zoo announced they acquired (1.1) prehensile-tailed porcupines named Gigi and Olive from the Houston Zoo in Texas and the Riverbanks Zoo in South Carolina respectively which are now on exhibit. Meet the Zoo's newest residents, Gigi and Olive! Gigi and Olive are prehensile-tailed porcupines who came to the Zoo as a Species Survival Plan (SSP) breeding recommendation. Four-year-old Gigi joins us from the Houston Zoo, and his mate, six-year-old Olive joins us from the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Prehensile-tailed porcupines are arboreal animals.
