There were no plans to create a new savannah exhibit with giraffes, and with a new restaurant ?

For the first time 2 chicks of the Mitchell's lory have hatched and have been raised at Heidelberg Zoo. This is a very rare subspecies of the Forsten's lory and may be already extinct in the wild !

True! A very noteworthy breeding achievement. I believe they had only recently acquired these (I think I visited the place in 2019.

I believe that whilst some initial announcements did say Jan 28 they have since been corrected to Feb 28.

Great to learn the loan of Martin has paid off for breeding Syrian brown bear!

How many are there in European zoos anyway?

On 19th of July, a South American sea lion was born in Heidelberg Zoo. It is a female and she has been given the name Yuna. She will stay behind the scenes with her mother Kelo for the next few weeks, where she can learn to swim.

Plans for a (MUCH needed) new outdoor gorilla enclosure in Heidelberg:

    Neue Gorilla-Anlage.

I hope the smaller monkey species is going to be either the Roloway meerkat or the white-naped mangabey, as both those species are already present in the zoo in inadquate enclosures.
