Would this work? A walkthrough exhibit with talapoin monkeys? They are quite small, but I don't know how their temperament is. Are they usually docile towards humans (and other animals)?
With females, sure. With males, probably not since they can be quite aggressive. Then again, it all depends on exhibit design and personality and background of the animals.
Thank you for your answer. How agressive are male talapoins, are they comparable to male squirrel monkeys or maybe male or female capuchin monkeys? Or are they less 'likeable'?
I think it all depends on the individual characters, it should be possible. Problem is that many are positive for STLV and SIV, and although the risk of transmission to humans is low, your authorities would not like to take that risk.
TY, persimon Other walkthrough-exhibits with African monkey species would have the same problem though, and I know of at least two walkthrough-exhibits with colobus...
I think another problem you'd encounter is the fact that talapoins are very rare in zoos and unlikely to get more popular. ~Thylo
