Well, with Colocolo, Marsh Deer and Southern Muriqui in residence I suppose Bearded Sakis were to be expected!
This individual is now the only one of his species left at the zoo and lives with a group of black horned capuchin monkeys. Very sadly there was an outbreak of Toxoplasmosis a number of years ago (which New world monkeys have little immunity to), due to transmission from feral cats from the surrounding city, which wiped out his companions , he was the only survivor. The zoo consistently do their very best to try to educate visitors about the dangers that feral cats pose to the species kept there and wildlife in general.
