The former Jaguarundi exhibit has been re-purposed to house Emperor Tamarins. The Jaguarundis are now off-show.

Oh, that is an unexpected change - do we know why? The jaguarundi pair were very showy on my visit and one of the highlights of River Safari.

@zooboy28 You were quite lucky then :D

The jaguarundis were inactive most of the time, resting in the corner of the exhibit. The park felt tamarins would be more attractive with higher levels of activity and also easier to see as they move around at eye level.

I barely saw the jaguarundis because they were in the corner. I think for visitors the tamarins are a better choice - hopefully the jaguarundis can go on show somewhere else though, perhaps in the night safari?

p.s. what I don't like about the new Zoochat site - I have no idea when new photos or comments are added, especially when I'm travelling and can't visit every day!

@Chlidonias Perhaps, but there is a growing number of small carnivore species that are waiting to go on-show - ocelot, bat-eared fox, fennec fox, golden jackal..

I have to agree about the new site layout. Instead of listing all the forums, can the home page go back to showing new posts and photos? I've been browsing the site a lot less after the change.

Are bat-eared foxes no longer on display at Night Safari? When, why? I can't recall if they were present last December, although I remember the enclosure looking more overgrown than previously.

Are there any plans for the small carnivores to be displayed anywhere?

I do concur with thoughts on new ZooChat. It is rather off-putting, and without changes will lead to a decline in use of the gallery especially.

I don't get email alerts for replies to photos either (e.g. this one - I just happened to come back to it and found new replies). Is that just me? I'll post the question also on the thread about the new site.

@zooboy28 I'm not sure why and when exactly the bat-eared foxes were taken off show. There doesn't seem like any immediate plans to display those species mentioned. But all the WRS parks' masterplans are being reviewed at the moment, so they may be displayed in the near future.

@Zooish is the bat-eared fox exhibit still empty then? Will be good to see what the masterplans for WRS look like.
    • Zooish
@zooboy28 Yes it is empty and very overgrown now.

The masterplans aren't ready yet but i doubt they will be released to the public in any case.
