Hamilton Zoo Map. From the zoos guide book. Not sure exactly what year this is, no date in book, but its probably from 2007-09.

I just thought I would upload some old maps of Hamilton Zoo as there are none in the gallery or on the zoo\'s website. It is also the best way to show the changes in the zoo, which has undergone massive changes and expansion in the past decade, more so than any other NZ zoo, although the rate has definitely declined recently.

Since 2003, the chimpanzee enclosure had been completed, this being the last major development made at the zoo. An epidemic of some sort had wiped out the otters and these were not replaced, instead agouti were bought in. Sahara the camel and the two old female gemsbok had died, being replaced with alpaca and red-necked wallabies/brolga respectively. A splinter group of female wild dogs were moved into a new enclosure between the bison and rhinos. The llama and emu left the collection, and were replaced (temporarily) with cheetah. The leopard cat had died, and an Asiatic golden cat (from Auckland Zoo?) replaced that. A new Kea aviary and native reptile exhibits were built near the Freeflight aviary, while a NZ falcon aviary was built in the wetlands complex. While Fallow Deer, Blackbuck and Sitatunga are not shown, they were still kept, although not always on show.
