There are some fantastic hippo exhibits for great underwater viewing opportunities at many North American zoos (Busch Gardens, San Diego, Saint Louis, San Antonio, Toledo, Calgary, etc). It has almost become the norm for a hippo habitat to be truly noteworthy for an average zoo visitor it almost certainly must have underwater viewing. I believe that Sedgwick County was the first zoo on the planet to showcase hippos underwater, and Memphis Zoo has plans to open an underwater hippo exhibit within the next year.
