Ape House (Number one) Chester Zoo

Viewing corridor of Ape House (Number one) Chester Zoo. 'Armour plate' glass windows were reclaimed in the 1950's from decommissioned railway carriages and used in this pleasant and airy walkway! Windows to the right looked out to Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Orangutan islands. Whilst those to the left looked to the indoor yards. Closed to public in 1980, this corridor still remains between chimp island and the tropical House (Realm).
