Australian Redback Spider (Latrodectus hasselti)

at the Canterbury Museum (Christchurch, NZ) in a temporary display of spider photography. This is the only live spider in the display (although the museum also has live tarantulas elsewhere). Australian Redbacks are an accidental introduction to New Zealand. There are a few established populations in various parts of the country. 16 May 2015
