      This is absolutely bizarre, I'm sure I've never heard of them being kept in aviaries anywhere else. Are they mixed with anything here?

      You can't be too careful with Emus. Colchester Zoo had one get out in the 1960s, and haven't found it yet.

      not mixed with anything, no. I think it is a matter of just needing somewhere to put them. Potentially it is because of renovations around the zoo: maybe their usual paddock is not available for them at the moment.

      It was very weird seeing them in aviaries though.

      I wonder if they have a predator issue (leopards, jackals....)
