baby carpet shark (Cephaloscyllium isabellum)
carpet shark is the most common NZ name for this species although it is unrelated to the carpet sharks of Australia (the wobbegongs). It is also commonly called the swell shark in NZ, and overseas the draughtsboard cat-shark. The carpet sharks breed regularly at the Southern Encounter Aquarium. Photo taken 6 July 2010.
