The Meerkat enclosure was home to Ratel at the time of my first visit.

      Thanks Maguari
      Is the lioness Samira?
    • Maguari
Er - pass! I can tell you it's the one with the limp, if that helps!

I can't wait to visit Port Lympne again next year; so many missed nooks and crannies! Admittedly we didn't do the hill climb from the cat corner to the elephants meaning we didn't see the snow leopards, lynx, cheetah, etc and only saw the eles from the tour ride. Must remember the way to the wildcats too!

Also, where are the clouded leopards? I loved watching them at Howletts, and I hear there are a few at Lympne.

      Where the Lions are.

      The Lions at Port Lympne seem to be distributed around the Park something like this at present;

Large enclosure at bottom of Park- male Suliman, female Saffiya, female daughter(?) Savanah.
Enclosure directly above this on bend of road- any? (Jade?)
Enclosure in pine wood near public road- males Moonlight & Milo.
Enclosure on other side of Mansion near assembly area/paydesk for Safari
      trip. Male Jabir, female Juma(?)
Enclosure in this photo. crippled female Samira.

      Any more?

When I visited the two elder lionesses kept down by where the Hyena's are where Jade and Juna.
I think since then Juna has died leaving Jade on her own - It could be the other way round.
Its definately a different female with Jabir but I have completely forgotten her name I will try and find it out.
Thanks Maguari this will definately be Samira then.
Did this enclosure house Snow Leopards before?
    • Pertinax
yes, I had that slightly wrong too.

Jade and Jun(m?)a were the two elderly sisters(littermates). I think Jade was the mother of the breeding female Saffiya. I can't remember which of them has died, maybe both by now?

The female in with Jabir is -I believe- called Luka or Luna- something like that. I believe she is another one bred at the Park but younger than the other two(above).

I don't think there are any others currently as Belfast took 2.1 off them.

Juna or Jade are definately Saffiya's mother.
I think Jade and Juna both had litters through-out their breeding litters and I think they were one of the lions that started up the breeding programme? but if not so they definately had a great deal breeding for it.
I have some info on the lions that I will drag out at some point. :)

Cheetah, according to Ash higher up the thread! I don't think it would be Snow-Leopard-proof! This is behind the Snow Leopard enclosure, though.
    • Mike11
      Ah yeah, Thanks Maguari.
Does Port Lympne still hold cheetahs?
