This gorilla habitat is still as stunning as ever, and Congo Gorilla Forest truly is a magnificent set of exhibits in one of the world's greatest zoos. The towering trees deceive the viewer that the gorillas have an endless amount of space, and the backdrop is extremely similar to the Tiger Mountain landscape at the same zoo. No wonder that the Bronx Zoo has won more AZA Best Exhibit awards than any other establishment, with only Woodland Park in Seattle coming close to the total of 8 prizes.
This exhibit was holding 4 young males when I visited. The other exhibit had a family group with one silverback and 6 females. The zoo also has a family group of 7 off exhibit. The 3 groups rotate through the exhibit everyday. Its great the zoo has signs to tell you who is in the exhibit during your visit.
