Brown Hyena in the current red ruffed lemur enclosure in the Conservation Outpost
How horribly small for a hyena! What other species used to be kept in those enclosures?
@ThylacineAlive i put a list on one of the photos on the gallery, but the two tunnels (one now) held a variety of species including lemurs, tamarins, small cats, snow leopards and more.
I love brown hyenas! San Diego exhibited them when I visited in the early 1980's, that was my only exposure to them.
Never got to see them unfoetunately , riverbanks had a pair from opening day 1974 to 1980 when they were moved to milwaukee. Not sure what exhibit they were in exactly but I do know they were in the tunnels.
The only time I've seen them were at Prague last year. I'd love to see the species actually established somewhere given they're more endangered than Spotted or Striped.
