Chimpanzee exhibit 23rd October 1999

At this time the Chimpanzees had the traditional cage at the front of the house and this area at the rear (now the site of the Bird Show Theatre). Keepers told me the apes appeared to prefer the cages where they could climb and see what was going on around them.
