This must be a good year for Cinnabar Moths - zoogiraffe had one in his garden recently, I believe.

It must be. Hadn't seen any for years but now seen 4 in two days.

      Mild winter perhaps?

Very nice, did you see this locally? I can't recall seeing a moth this vivid in colour for a long time, way before I was bothered with inverts! If they're in the Birmingham area then I want in on the action!

This pic was taken just down the road from home; at least 10 miles north of the centre of B'ham. I've also seen them in the back garden.

Thanks for that, will keep an eye out for these little beauties!

I can't even say that I've seen many butterflies this year either. :(
    • Benosaurus
Same here (my Peacock butterfly pic is from a couple of years ago). That being said our large buddleia bush hasn't done very well this year for some reason.
    • Brum
Likewise, our "butterfly" bush* hasn't bloomed this year at all! Our garden was an oasis for them last year but just seems to have not bothered this year! Bloody inconsiderate plants! :D

*That's what the girls call it! :p

Just want to say that within 20 minutes of this photo being taken I saw one! :)

Since then I have seen a further four individuals including two mating on my front door! Well I assume they were mating, never seen moths going at it before! :p
