This picture shows a couple of the later cages from the old Belfast Zoo. Incredibly, the nearer one held a Sun Bear.

      thses cages look in quite good order for the lack of maintanance, the one below the car park could still be used with abit of natural substrate for birds or small monkeys.

      It is odd to think of some of the animals kept in these cages compared to what we expect today, but that was how it was then, maybe if things had been different the anti zoo lobby wouldn't have got off the ground, mind you i hate to say it, would things have moved so far without them?
