Muddy Swan at Blackbrook, 22/04/12

A swan determined to hide its species by judicious application of mud! It did wash off later so I know the species - anyone fancy a guess?? :D

Oh no, it has escaped the thread!

I'm going to throw out a random guess of Jankowski's Swan.
    • Chlidonias
I too shall throw out a completely random guess of trumpeter swan
    • Ituri
I can say with surety that it is in the genus Cygnus!
    • Chlidonias
...and its not a black swan
    • Ituri
Yeah, actually I think we can narrow down further to Cygnus buccinator, Cygnus columbianus or less likely Cygnus cygnus.
    • Chlidonias
why not olor? (And bewickii if we want to be splitty?)
    • Ituri
Not knobby enough for olor and I'm not in the mood to be splitty.
    • Maguari
Hee hee, swan debate. Love it!

Will put you out of your misery when I'm back at home tonight (probably about 10 hours' time!).
    • Ituri
Well, you know us...we like to guess :D
