female Greater Vasa Parrot

Female Greater Vasa Parrot sunbathing at Chester Zoo. Since the first UK breeding occured in 1990, 40 chicks have been reared. Sadly, no one is very interested in this species so breeding has been curtailed. When in breeding condition the female loses her head feathers.

      I like them!!! It's a very hidden away species in the zoo, so that may be a reason why they aren't popular.
