When and where abouts in the zoo was this taken?
    • bongorob
In the glass fronted aviary at the eastern end of the old parrot house. It was taken in the late 1990s, I'll have to get the slide out for the exact date. The remaining lorikeets are in the zoo's offshow accomodation in the tropical realm I think. They are not in the new parrot house.

Have they had any breeding sucess? I'll try to find out about them when I next go to the zoo. Keep them coming!!!

Mount Apo Lorikeets bred at Chester are 1998 2.0 1999 3 (1 did not survive) 2001 1.1. There are 4 males at the moment, though London are breeding them.

Could they not get some from London?

I expect it is down to how closely related they are. I think Chester's originate from Loro Parque.
