Yellow-footed Tortoise Chester Zoo 9 April 2003

A Yellow-footed (Chelonoidas denticulata) Tortoise was on its back, which seemed to worry the watching visitors more than it did the tortoise. He (or she) was back on his (or her) feet within a few minutes.

Is that in the tortoise house where the current Okapi paddock is now?
    • CZJimmy
Hornbill, 2003 should mean it would be in the tropical realm...

      I may be wrong though...
    • bongorob
CZJimmy is right. It was in the corridor which is now closed.

The other tortoise house was built in 1976 for a pair of African Spurred Tortoises.

What is kept in that closed off corridor now?
    • bongorob
Someone posted on the forum that it was no longer in use I think.
    • CZJimmy
I thought it was used as extra off-show vivariums?
    • bongorob
I don't know, that's what I thought too, but I'm sure I saw someone said it was closed completely.

Its completly out of use due to a problem keeping the exhibits at a constant temperature.
