Thanks for uploading some pictures of these re-developments so that the ones such as I who havent visited all that recently can get a picture of what is happening here. One factor still confuses me slightly though. Just how many species of Reptile & Amphibian will be displayed in the redeveloped area. Looking at the design and taking into the account the moving of the Iguanas to Islands In Danger, I take it the number will be decresead pretty largely?
That seems to be the case, but as the zoo haven't announced anything except the iguana move, we're all a bit in the dark!
I don't really see the point in all this when, from what I understand, the Tropical Realm will be demolished in the next few of years anyway.
Where have you got the idea from that its going to be demolished in the next few years as I`ve not heard any mention of it been demolished in the near or distant future!
I remember someone saying it was going to be taken down when HoA is built, and believed them as it is not on the natural vision map which I have. Then again, its probably best to avoid basing assumptions on that.
I'm not sure which map you have, but at least one of the Natural Vision maps was, I understand, produced by the architects as part of their pitch to the zoo to be given the project - and so does not necessarily represent the zoo's plans. I've certainly heard nothing official either way on this topic.
I always take architect drawings with a pinch of salt, dealing them with them in the past and they sometimes don't understand how things work (Sorry if I offended any out there)
Well I`ve heard from a pretty reliable source that its staying and will used primarily for keeping birds in free flight along with the aviarys that are currently present with some of the bird species not suitable for the free-flight area. Also the crocs and a few other herps like the tortoise`s will remain in the house.
Indeed - it's easy to forget than commonplace things like wire-mesh fences for big cats, islands for apes and free-flight bird halls were all pioneered by Chester, and were largely untested before that.
