Is the monerail noisy at all? Does it affect the animals?
    • zoogiraffe
The mono rail doesn`t make as much noise as the horde`s of people that cross over the bridge all day!

      haha, good one :D

To the left of the photo is a man standing on a wooden structure. Is that the bridge zoogiraffe mantioned or is it a viewing platform?
    • Maguari
That's part of the bridge - it winds around and back on itself before crossing the bridle path (which is outside the zoo) to the other half of the zoo near the cheetahs.

The bridle path is something of an obstacle; there are only three ways to cross it - the bridge near the elephants (in place since the Western half of the zoo was started), the monorail or the very new bridge seen here. The bridge is long-overdue and a great help in route-planning!

Thanks. I was asking because it looked like a viewing platform that looked straight onto the monorail. :) A bridge makes more sense.

Just for the record I was actually taking thephoto on the bridge.

If it helps to set the scene at all, the new wooden walkway joins three main areas of the zoo. One arm starts alongside the cheetah enclosure, built above and on top of the old pathway:

It then curves around the cheetahs and crosses the bridal path as Maguari describes. This is a shot from the top of the bridge looking to the East Zoo.

...and looking the opposite way across the bridge:

It emerges out over the Visayan warty pig and Philippine spotted dear enclosures, with a good view towards the one-horned rhino and elephants in the distance.

It then snakes around and joins the West Zoo. The bend in the walkway seen here is roughly where zoogiraffe was when he took the photo.

Thanks for the photos :) It's easier to understand now.

The pigs have evidently settled in well and you can now see three piglets in this enclosure
