Asian Elephants and Paddock - 28/06/2010

Asian elephants ([i]Elephas maximus[/i]) enjoying their reintroduction into the remodelled paddock. The herd were given access today. Personally, I think it looks to be a real improvement and the elephants seem particularly at home. The sand substrate is being used as a dust bath and hopefully it and the terraces beneath will solve many of the water-logging problems.
