What is that enclosure at the back used for?

It is used for Silver/Red foxes when they are roated between that and the Old Tiger Mountain however with Cheetah arriving they may be coming into this enclosure, This im not sure of though.
I think when the previous owner was in charge it may of held Tigers as they had such big breeding success he kept the tigers in small conditions and in the end was prosecuted for it in around 2001.This again im not sure of but i am pretty sure.
Its a good enclosure alot different to what i thought Dartmoor was going to be like when i visited in 2007 :)

Thanks for the info, the foxes have now come out of the large enclosure as it is now inhabited by a female cheetah, but the foxes are now on a rotor system in the grassy enclosure next to the cheetah. Dartmoor Zoo is currently planning a new enclosure for both the silver foxes and the red foxes.

Thanks for clearing up the situation with the fox/cheetah enclosure, It works great with both species :)

That is one heavily used paddock. It must turn into a mud bath in the winter?:(

Zoo Inspectors would have something to say about an enclosure in that state.:( I presume its an old photo and no longer like this?

If its only got a Cheetah in it nowadays I expect its recovered considerably as they aren't 'hard' on the ground like bigger cats.
