I remember the first time I saw this enclosure at Edinburgh. It seemed very small, especially for Lions.
It was roughly where the outside area for the Koalas is now.

It wasn't only small, they seamed rather far off too, it was of it's time I suppose when it was thought cats lye around all day so they won't need much space.

I wondered what on earth I was going to see when I clicked on this:D;)

      Loin Enclosure

This isn't the old tiger enclosure is it? That was very successful from a breeding point of view, and groundbreaking of its time.

Havn't Edinburgh Lions always lived in here? In the old days I think it was referred to as 'Lion Rock' or is that a different enclosure?

This appears to be a different enclosure to the current Asiatic Lion enclosure at Edinburgh.

This exhibit held lions from when it was opened up until 2002 when the last African female Judi died. The Asiatic lion enclosure was built the year after.
