What happened to their Indian Rhinos? I love this species, my favourite rhinos, and I was there only one year after the photo was taken (September 2007)

This female came over from America in 2006 as a mate for the male they had been gifted from Japan. On arrival in Australia she was moved to Taronga whilst awaiting transfer to her permanent home at Taronga's sister zoo in Dubbo. Sadly she died before this move could go ahead. In july 2009 they were able to import Amala from Oaklahoma Zoo as a new mate for the male. They are both still alive and well at Western Plains Zoo :)

She died from a build up of sand, which she had consumed, doubly tragic as she was also pregnant at the time too.
