      New bharal enclosure
    • Pertinax
Like it. This park is certainly quite unique in the UK, with the remarkable surroundings and scenery and the impressive range of mostly cold-weather animals. They have certainly taken the correct direction with it IMO.:) Must get up there sometime.

The enclosure was specifically designed for the bharal, their last few enclosures had no hard stand area and their hooves were constantly needing trimmed.
Consolidation of the collection seems to be the by word at the moment, upgrading and improving the current collections housing and general management seems to be the order of the day.
Rather than a tranche of new species, the current groups are being consolidated, with the arrival in due course of 1.0 white lipped deer, 1.0 Amur tiger, 0.1 red panda, 1.0 musk ox and 1.0 satyr tragopan, which is currently in quarantine.
And finally a male polar bear will be arriving shortly.

male ? isnt walker a male
    • kiang
Correct;), the new male will be a companion a second enclosure for a female located elsewhere in the park is yet to be built.
    • anidude
fsir enough was just a bit baffled thought a female would have been more liikely to share with walker rather than a male but there u go
    • Pertinax
Possibly a male is available now and a female isn't?

Young Polars of either sex usually get along well with each other though adult males are a different matter.
