Surely one of the UK's most picturesque animal enclosures. Fantastic exhibit.
    • kiang
Every enclosure at HWP, has a view to die for
    • MARK
Is this the largest herd in the UK?
    • Jabiru96
      What a shot and view!
    • Maguari
I think it must be - possibly by some distance (this isn't even the whole herd, as I recall).
    • MARK
Thank you Maguari, I may look at ISIS and see how many they maintain there
    • kiang
I think the only comparable herds in the British isles would be at Whipsnade and Fota
    • Maguari
Whipsnade's is quite a bit smaller than this - about 7 or 8 animals, from memory. Nice herd but nothing like Highland's.
    • MARK
ISIS list HWP having 2 male & 12 females, it appears the largest herd in a zoo?.

Howetts lists only 4 male & 2 females?. I am sure Howletts used to hold a larger group than this?.

Whipsnade zoo lists 1 male & 4 females.
    • Maguari
Possibly, but that sounds correct for what I saw at the end of July.
