Titan Arum, Croc Swamp, 26 June 2015

In full bloom. I could detect a faint smell - I think it started to dissipate when the doors were opened.

If I understood the Gardener correctly, the 'tree trunk' to the right of it is a Titan Arum leaf. It has a few 'branches' and leaves out of shot. It was produced by the previous flowering corm.

Very nice. Was your visit prompted by this bloom?
    • Chlidonias
yes that is an Amorphophallus leaf. They only have one at a time and it looks like a small tree. Really weird plant.

I am a regular at Paignton but this particular visit was just to check on the Arum as I knew the blooming was imminent.

It certainly is weird. The leaf looked like a fake plant you might buy to decorate your conservatory.
