Guinea Baboon paddock at Port Lympne 27/11/09

The paddock extends over a large area (think I'm right in saying it's an old rhino paddock?). Taken from the truck ride as it's the only way to get a decent angle.

I may have misinterpreted your post, but I thought the plan was to mix the baboon with the rhino, is this not the case?
    • Maguari
Not when I was there, certainly. The two were very much separate and I couldn't see any obvious way of mixing them.

There was a news article I saw recentley with a video showing the two mixing.

Indeed, that was the plan and they were mixed for a while.

but what happened to the plan? why was it postponed?

It is definately one of the Rhino paddocks and the idea was to mix the two species. There is a rhino house and yards at the top end of the enclosure nearest the Mansion. I guess the two species would just be given access to the paddock at the same time.

I didn't know they had already mixed them. I wonder if it has been stopped or just that they weren't out together on that day for some reason?

I think there was a news article that focussed on the mixing of the two species, and they claimed it had been very successful at first. I really don't know why they stopped it.
