The Slimbridge Small Three - Water Vole

There are 3 native mammals on display in the Back from the Brink building. Now on show - good old Ratty (plus cabbage). You used to be able to see wild ones in the grounds, but they are rare animals in GB now. Viewing close up was interesting, I had forgotten how much larger than our other voles they are. February 17th 2012.

      Awww!

Just going through the pictures in this gallery, Slimbridge seems to be a beatiful place with great photo opportunities. Must include in some future holiday plans.

      Thank you :)

Go to Slimbridge in the winter to see the wild birds as well as the captive collection or next week for the Downy Duckling days (tours of the duckery, which is usually off-show). The same is true for all the WWT centres, with some local variations (check the WWT website).
