ornate flying foxes (Pteropus ornatus)
endemic New Caledonian species, now very endangered through hunting. The zoo had all three of the country's fruit bat species on display but these were the only ones I could get a photo of. The lone Pacific flying fox (P. tonganus) was in such a position that I could only get the glare from the sun off the wire. The group of between 6 and 10 New Caledonian flying foxes (P. vetulus) - which were very cute I must say! - were in an even trickier position and I could barely see them where they were hanging let alone photograph them.
