Canadian lynx

Canadian lynx (Lynx canadensis) at Trotters in the late 90s/early noughties. I don't have a scanner, so this was a photo taken of an old film photo. I took this when I was younger, not knowing at the time I probably wouldn't see another one [at that age it was just a lynx to me]. I feel extremely lucky that by chance I had decided I'd photograph this animal, so glad I did.

There are no more canadian lynx in European zoos? (I know at least that Parc Des Felins recently added them, but are there no others?).

As well as Parc des Felins, there are three Czech (and one Slovak) zoos keeping Canadian Lynx: ZootierlisteHomepage

The list includes Plzen, so if JR makes his mind up to come to Zoohistorica this year he can have a go at seeing them there! :D

Hopefully I will be able to, but I can't 100% say for sure yet as it's very much reliant on me getting a job [all being well], and if I do I still have Frankfurt in May and a fortnight in California next year to save for :p

I will possibly see them again, but since I don't go abroad often then the fact they've gone from the UK makes them very much a species I will savour seeing every time I do :)

      Pah, always some excuse! :D

The two females at Trotters have departed to Parc Des Felines after the male at Trotters died in late 2011/early 2011- the 0.2 at Parc Des Felines are mother and daughter born in 2007 and 2009 respectively, Trotters no longer hold this species.

When are you going and what part of the state? If you are doing Los Angeles and/or San Diego Zoos, maybe we need to organize a 2013 Southern California ZooChat Meetup in honor of our international guest?

(p.s. - Americans do not use the term fortnight, but I think it means two weeks???)
    • Jordan-Jaguar97
      Yes two weeks= fortnight = 14 days.

Nothing's signed and sealed yet, still very much just on a wishlist but it's a trip I've been contemplating for a while, as it gives us more than just zoos and would make an excellent holiday. I'm still thinking I won't book anything until I know what the plans are re. Sumatran rhino at LA Zoo [don't wanna go and then they get put on-show a month later :p]

I'd probably do one week San Diego and one week LA. Things I wanna do altogether:

San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld and WAP
      LA Zoo
Rancho la Brea [sure I've spelt that wrong]
      Hollywood
I believe there's a big Star Wars thing in California, though not sure if it's in that area - am I right in thinking Skywalker Ranch is open as a museum?

Really should get back on-topic - I may put something on the Zoo Cafe at a later date when I have a better idea of whether I'll actually get to do it or not :)
