for an animal that never normally goes on the ground that bad
    • She-wolf
This pic is just a part of the enclosure .. there are trees and swings there too .
    • Maguari
But it does look quite a distance the gibbon would have to walk to reach them.
    • johnstoni
Yes I think this is a fantastic enclosure. Was this gibbon born at the sanctuary and hand-reared?
    • Bele
No , I think it is Oliver , the male from Penscynor .
    • She-wolf
      Its Oliver .
    • johnstoni
Which is the one that people go in with?
    • She-wolf
Only staff , people who come as " keeper for a day " and well known regular visitors are allowed in with any of the animals .

Just want to check....do you mean they let people go in with an adult gibbon?
    • johnstoni
yes. I'm conflicted about posting this image link as I imagine the contact is probably much needed stimulation for the gibbons there, I would actually be quite sorry if this practice was stopped:

Ailie's Birthday Monkeys - a set on Flickr

I'm sure the main gibbon being featured - 'Vo' was either born at the sanctuary or arrived from Southport as a young, hand-reared animal, as appears to have been the case with the Mandrill. I would love to know his or her story.
